CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSIn order to keep licensed professional counselors current and effective in their practice, they are required to complete approved continuing education for licensed renewal. An LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) may renew his/her license every two years by documenting the completion of 30 continuing education hours (CEH) for the two-year period. One CEH is based upon a 50-minute hour. Notification of renewals will be made in the month prior to the anniversary date of each license. All Continuing Education will be listed on page two of the renewal application. Please keep all records and documentation for all Continuing Ed listed in the event of an audit. An LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) must be renewed every two years on the expiration date of the individual's LPC license. In addition to the 30 CEH’s required for renewal of the LPC, 10 additional hours of clinical professional development are required. These contact hours must be related to the person's intent to practice and must be clinical in content. Documentation of these clinical CEH’s will be made in the same matter as the LPC renewal application. NOTE: all renewals require 3 continuing education hours in ethics. Questions regarding the acceptance of continuing education experiences should be directed to the Board office.
